One great need among families, especially as our children reach the upper level math courses, is a great curriculum, with helps for parents. We all have experienced the lack of personal memory as our children reach these levels or the frustration as the "formulas" or "how to get to the answer" have changed! We have discovered a solution that brings peace to the family!! Mr. James Foust is an experienced upper level math educator and a homeschooling father himself. He has been teaching math at ACA for several years and offering homeschool classes on the side. Mr. Foust uses Saxon Math as his core curriculum but adds worksheets and helps as needed as well. As of this year he is teaching upper level courses to homeschool families full time. We have the privilege of bringing him to Brevard on Mondays and would love to have you join us! Below you will find a brief description of the classes offered, the cost and an idea of Mr. Foust's approach. Please notify us quickly of your interest. These classes tend to fill quickly.

6th to 8th grade general math: This class is designed to lead a student into Pre-Algebra the following year. Emphasis on fractions, decimals, ratios and percents with a lot of problem solving.

Pre-Algebra: This class follows middle school general math and will lead a student into a
study of algebra I. Topics from general math are review and worked into basic
algebraic concepts.

Algebra I: This class is the first High School Level Math. Topics from Pre-Algebra with be
solidified along with topics from Algebra including Solving Equations, Graphing,
Factoring and Problem solving.

Geometry: I believe that a full year of Geometry is critical in building a students logical
thinking and problem solving skills. Topics from plane geometry will be covered
in this class including constructions and proofs. Algebra I will be review
throughout the course.

Algebra II: This class is to bring mastery to algebra I concepts while introducing new more
advanced algebraic topics throughout the year. I will teach students how to use a
graphing calculator in this class.

Advanced Functions: This class was named by the state of NC. The class is designed to
and Modeling be a class that does a heavy review of Algebra II and gets a student
ready for the more rigorous Pre-Calculus. Finished with Algebra II,
but not quite ready for Pre-Calculus, this class is for you. This class
does meet the state requirement for a 4th math credit.

Pre-Calculus: Not old enough, or just don't want to go to AB-Tech? This class will cover
(Algebra/Trig) what AB-Tech covers in Pre-Cal Algebra and Pre-Cal Trig. At the end of this
class a student should be ready for Calculus.

AP Calculus: Not on the schedule, but will place a class on the schedule if I get enough
requests. Students would register to take the AP Calculus test AB at the end.
